Scottsdale Mint supports a diverse range of payment methods to accommodate customer preferences and to reduce payment processing risk associated with high-value precious metals transactions.

Fraud Protection
All credit card transactions are screened by Kount before authorization. Kount assigns a risk score and either:
- Approves the transaction automatically
- Declines the transaction automatically
- Flags it for manual review
The Kount integration is configured at the payment gateway level and applies universally to card payments.

Tax and Pricing Interaction
AvaTax calculates tax on each order before payment. Tax is calculated in real time during checkout based on:
- Customer shipping address
- Product tax category (precious metals have special exemptions in many states)
- Order amount
The final order total (including tax) is what is charged to the payment method.
Currency
All transactions are in USD. No multi-currency support is implemented.
PCI Compliance
- Credit card data is never processed or stored by WordPress or Scottsdale Mint servers
- PayPal PPCP uses hosted fields — card data goes directly to PayPal
- CyberSource uses hosted payment page
- Kount fraud screening uses the order data only, not raw card data
