Connecting to the Fishbowl Server

Use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) to connect to the Fishbowl server environment.

Credential Source

Connection details and login credentials are stored in LastPass:

  • Vault entry name: Fishbowl - Scottsdale

Do not copy credentials into documentation, tickets, chat, or source control.

Prerequisites

  • LastPass access to the Fishbowl - Scottsdale vault entry
  • Network/VPN access required by Rhino Group infrastructure
  • An RDP client:
    • Windows: Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc)
    • macOS: Microsoft Remote Desktop

Connect from Windows

  1. Open LastPass and locate Fishbowl - Scottsdale.
  2. Copy the server host/address from the entry.
  3. Press Win+R, enter mstsc, and press Enter.
  4. Paste the host/address into Computer.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. When prompted, use the username/password from LastPass.
  7. If a certificate prompt appears, verify the server identity and continue per internal policy.

Connect from macOS

  1. Open LastPass and locate Fishbowl - Scottsdale.
  2. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop.
  3. Create or edit a PC connection using the host/address from LastPass.
  4. Enter the username/password from LastPass.
  5. Save and connect.

Post-Connection Checks

  • Confirm you are on the expected server (hostname/environment)
  • Confirm Fishbowl services are running before beginning admin tasks
  • If doing maintenance, notify impacted users before stopping services

Troubleshooting

  • Authentication failed: verify copied credentials and account formatting (for example, DOMAIN\username if required)
  • Cannot reach server: confirm VPN/network access and host value
  • RDP blocked or timeout: verify firewall and allowlist rules with IT
